Finding the Perfect Neighborhood for the Perfect Price

November 9, 2011 - Updated: November 9, 2011

When searching the real estate market for homes for sale in Toronto, it's important to ensure that the individual, couple, or family feels at home in their new neighborhood. There are several factors to consider when choosing the right area to settle into, and price is only one small factor in this important process. In fact, most neighborhoods in the Toronto area will have a place at the right price for any family's budget—it's not difficult as long as they have a good real estate agent to assist. There are three vital factors to consider when moving to a new location:

#1 – Personal Space

Homes for sale in Toronto can vary greatly in proximity. When considering an area, look around. Is there space, or is the area busy and crowded? Respect the family's personal preferences. Does the family like to be busy, on the go, surrounded by activity, or do they prefer quiet, suburban areas with big parks and playgrounds? Knowing the individual's tastes and preferences for space is the biggest consideration when choosing the right neighborhood.

#2 – Children & Schools

Consider how many children are in the family, if any, and what their ages are and where they will be in ten years. If the children are teens and will be moving out of the house soon, then the family might wish to be close to University. If the children are young, then closer to preschools might be the better choice. If there are no children, then the couples or individual can decide to be closer to more age-appropriate spots, or even age-restricted communities.

#3 – Culture & Hobbies

This is one area that is often overlooked: neglecting to consider the hobbies and recreational activities of the family. Figure out what is most appealing for cultural and hobby activities for everyone. Some people like to be close to places of worship, soup kitchens, and community gardens in order to be active in volunteer service. Others enjoy theater, opera, and the ballet, so being in the city might be a better choice. Those who enjoy hiking, jogging, and outdoor sports may prefer to be on the out-skirts of Toronto in order to more easily partake in outdoor adventures.

These three considerations are important when finding homes for sale in Toronto. They can help families, individuals, or couples get the most out of their neighborhood, without being overwhelmed by cost concerns.
