Buyer Agency
To protect the consumer, a public agency The Real Estate Council of Ontario was formed. One of its guiding principles was to mandate that agents ask their clients to sign a Written Representation Agreement at the earliest possible opportunity.
One form of this written representation is the Buyer Agency Agreement. The agreement is for a designated period of time and obliges buyers to work exclusively with the agent. It explains services the buyer can expect such as confidentiality. This agreement is in the interest of the buyer as it commits the agent to work in the best interest of the buyer. As a buyer you also have an option to be treated fairly and honestly with primarily those limitations this would be a Customer Service Agreement .
